Action for Environmental Awareness

In the framework of our ongoing commitment to the environment, society, and people, Move It co-organized a large-scale coastal cleanup in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, in collaboration with the environmental NGO iSea. This initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, ensure the cleanliness of our shores, and specifically inspire children and young people to protect our aquatic ecosystems, a direction we are determined to follow in our future actions. This intervention was part of a broader series of environmental activities across the City of Thessaloniki, the Municipality of Kalamaria, and the Municipality of Delta, implemented under the auspices of the City of Thessaloniki. We were proud to work alongside a diverse network of partners, including the Hellenic Biotope-Wetland Center, Eurobank, Blue Marine Foundation, WWF Greece, Greenpeace Greece, Hellenic Ornithological Society, Callisto, Sea World Scuba, ThessDiktio, Friends of the New Waterfront, OK!Thess, YMCA Thessaloniki, United Societies of Balkans, Thessaloniki Youth Council, SolidarityNow, and EnviroAuth. The active participation of educational institutions, such as the Mandoulides Schools, the 1st General High School of Kalamaria, and the 8th General High School of Kalamaria, was instrumental in engaging the younger generation. Overall, this collective effort mobilized 260 volunteers and led to the successful removal of 1.3 tons of waste, providing a significant environmental breath of air to the region and setting a strong example of how synergy can lead to measurable change.
